7 reasons to buy kids a reusable water bottle
Looking after our planet and the issues surrounding climate change and pollution are topics that we hear about a lot. Yet so many of us are unsure what steps we can take to do our bit to contribute to the future of the world surrounding us. There’re small changes we can all make to play our part, including kids.
One of those small changes you can introduce to your children is a kids reusable water bottle. Perfect for school, days out, play dates, or just around the house, kids are always on the go. So what better way to always have a drink to hand for them than with an eco-friendly reusable water bottle.
1. Cost
You don’t have to be great with numbers to know that a reusable water bottle is going to save you money in the long-term. And when you do the number crunching, it really is eye-opening to learn what you could save in just the space of a year.
Children are recommended to drink 4-8 glasses of water a day. If you convert this number into bottled water, this would cost you in the region of approximately $1500 per year! A reusable bottle is a one-off small payment at the time of purchase, and re-filling it with tap water is going to save you a whole lot of money every month and every year.
2. Sustainability
Did you know that every year, around 17 million barrels of oil are used to create disposable water bottles in the United States alone, and only about 1 in 5 of those bottles are sustainably recycled? These shocking statistics mean that our oceans are being polluted, affecting wildlife, putting bits of plastic into some of the foods we eat, and tonnes being dumped into landfill.
Making the decision to become more eco-friendly and eco-conscious with a reusable water bottle, especially from a young age, is a huge step in the right direction. It’s going to help sustain the future of our planet, and the generations of people to follow.
3. Avoid BPA and plastic bottles leaching
Lots of research has been conducted around how single-use plastic bottles can affect our health, and we want our children to be as healthy as possible, right?
Studies have shown that plastic bottles leach harmful chemicals and toxins including BPA (bisphenol A, an industrial chemical), which can lead to health issues later in life. Introducing a reusable bottle will not only help to eliminate these harmful chemicals being consumed, but will also highlight the importance of looking after our health from a young age.
4. Personalisation
What better way to make your kid's reusable water bottle fun and unique than with their own personalization! From adding your little one’s name, to their favourite animal or their very own piece of art, you can personalise your bottle however you wish. Get your craft on and your child will love carrying around (and drinking from) their super special water bottle.
5. Make sure your kids stay hydrated during school
We all know how busy kids are. Constantly on the move, when they stop or slow down one of the first things on their minds is ‘I’m thirsty!’. Having a reusable water bottle means it is easy for kids to stay hydrated as they don’t have to ask or wait for a drink, it’s already there waiting for them.
6. Swap out excessively sugary drinks
Juices and fizzy drinks that you buy in the store are of course tasty, but they’re full of lots of sugar, which obviously isn’t good for children’s teeth or tummies. By swapping out these sweet drinks for a kids reusable water bottle, will get them into the habit and the routine of not over-consuming too much sugar.
7. Child-friendly robustness
Kids need a reusable water bottle that’s going to withstand being dropped, thrown and rolled. Robustness is key! Our bottles are made from 18/8 stainless steel inside and out, they’re 100% leak proof, and they even have an easy-sip cap. They’re built to last, and designed for even the toughest of youngsters.
If these aren’t reason enough to invest in a reusable bottle for your little ones and make sure they stay hydrated, we don’t know what is. And remember, there’s lots of ways we can all become more eco-friendly, and a reusable water bottle is a big step in the right direction.
