4 Viral Coffee Trends You Really Need to Try

Got your finger on the pulse of the latest coffee trends?

Whether you live and breathe all things coffee-related, or you’re simply curious to spice up your morning cup of joe… I'm sure we all agree that it's been impossible not to notice all the coffee-related hacks and recipes going viral on social media these days...

But are they really worth the hype?

This week, we tried the top coffee trends that influencers everywhere have been losing their minds over - and there's actually a few winning coffee combos that got our seal of approval. (Which is just as well, because it looks like they're here to stay!)

Let’s take a look at the Top 4 coffee trends made famous by pop culture that you really need to try. Are you game to try these?

coffee trend #4:
Dalgona Coffee

We’re sure anyone would agree that 2020 was anything but a typical year... But you can leave it to TikTok to take the opportunity to churn out some creative trends!

Just one of the viral sensations was Dalgona Coffee, a home-whipped concoction that looks as aesthetic on Instagram as it tastes  delicious on the tongue.

In true "quarantine fad" fashion, the beverage is easily made at home by whipping equal parts instant coffee powder, sugar & hot water until a dense foam is achieved.

This punchy coffee froth is then spooned over cold or hot milk in a floating layer. Feeling fancy? Top it with a sprinkle of coffee powder, cocoa, crumbled biscuits, or honey and join the Dalgona frenzy!

coffee trend #3:
FLAVOuRED BEANS

We understand this might be a bit of a controversial one, especially to our coffee purists out there. After all, you wouldn’t be totally unjustified in assuming that flavours are sneakily being used to mask the off-flavours of substandard beans, as big coffee companies have been known to do in the past.

Today, however, flavoured beans are on the rise for a more positive reason: As people become more health-conscious, they are turning to healthy alternatives for their guilty pleasures like the decadent pumpkin spice latte or caramel macchiato.

Beyond the typical French vanilla and hazelnut, craft roasters are offering a variety of flavours like bananas foster, pistachio gelato, and bourbon pecan to spice it up without the added sugars.

coffee trend #2:
"Proffee"

Protein + Coffee = Proffee. While the jury’s still out on whether the ‘O’ is long, as in protein, or short, as in coffee, the case is concluded on the viral factor of this latest TikTok craze (phonetics aside).

Popular with fitness enthusiasts, the concept of ‘proffee’ is to enhance your regular morning pick-me-up by squeezing some extra protein into your routine, supplying your body with longer-lasting energy while satiating your appetite in a healthy way.

Best of all? It could not be easier to make. Simply mix a brewed cup of coffee with a protein shake (or some protein powder and water) and you’ll be off to the races in no time.

coffee trend #1:
SUSTAINABLE COFFEE

While the cause of sustainability is certainly no passing fad, it is a welcome development that coffee brands are now more than ever focusing efforts on making their product and practices sustainable.

From using alternative sources of energy in their roasteries to using compostable and recycled/recyclable packaging, the days of wasteful and un-environmentally friendly business practices are going by the wayside in favour of the more sustainable and environmentally-conscious

On the topic of sustainability, you can enjoy your steamy cup of roast bliss even more guilt-free with our high quality line of stainless steel reusable drinkware, like the Greens Steel Coffee Mug.
